ASU Prep Coding Camp
ASU Preparatory Academy Pilgrim Rest - June 13th & 14th 2024 (Phoenix, Arizona)
Partnering with STEMology, we hosted an introductory workshop to expose middle school students to the concepts used in everyday coding. We covered topics such as commands, variables, loops, if statements, and much more! We used programs like Replit and Scratch in order to help students visualize the ideas behind the code, whilst also exploring platforms used in the professional programming world. To finish off our camp, each student coded their own story in Scratch using their own characters and their own stories. We encouraged students to work together on each activity, and to look for ways that the objects all around us use code to help us solve everyday problems.
